Transportation and Commuter Routes

Newcastle is located just inside the Anthony Henday loop, and hopping on this major highway is easy for you to reach just about any location in Edmonton quickly. If you work downtown, you’ll be happy to hear the commute would be less than 30 minutes. Those who prefer public transportation can also take the bus. It’s a longer ride, but you’ll be able to relax with a book or listen to music.

Parks and Green Spaces

Modern families know living near nature allows them to have a more active lifestyle. Newcastle has been designed with this in mind, and you’ll find there are green spaces built into the community. These spaces include a large, open park area, a man-made pond and a playground. Outside the immediate neighbourhood, you’re still close to Herb Link Park, Dunluce Park, Lorelei Park and Baturyn Park. Best of all? You can reach most parks by foot along the landscaped walking trails.

Schools and Services

Edmonton has fine schools throughout the city, and parents can choose from both private, public and Catholic options. You’ll also be pleased to know future schools are planned for the community. Once completed, your children will be able to walk to a school right in their neighbourhood.

Health care is also close by. Residents go to the Sturgeon County Hospital for emergencies and the nearby doctors’ offices for regular care.

Entertainment and Recreation

If fun is at the forefront of your mind, you won’t be disappointed. Servus Place in St. Albert offers a number of recreational opportunities, including programs for both children and adults. You can take a yoga class, let your kids learn to cook or take the family swimming. They offer summer camps and Friday night drop-off programs as well.

The Castle Downs YMCA is another popular choice for Newcastle residents. They also have a variety of family-friendly programs that can help you get fit and stay connected. Of course, if you want a bit more excitement, being able to easily get on the Anthony Henday means West Edmonton Mall is just a short drive away.

Shopping

When it comes to shopping, many of Newcastle’s residents head to the Newcastle Centre. It’s so close to the community you could easily walk or bike there, but bring your car for large shopping trips. Here, you’ll find grocery stores, favourite restaurants, and a variety of other shops. The best thing about Newcastle Centre is it’s still expanding, so you never know what might be available in the not-so-distantfuture.
