Edmonton Community Feature: The Best of Newcastle
Your perfect home starts with finding the perfect neighbourhood, and we think that’s what you’ll find when you choose Newcastle. Set in the northwest part of Edmonton, this family-friendly community is a great solution for those who are seeking that perfect balance between living a quiet life and having easy access to the conveniences of modern life.
Explore all the benefits that Newcastle has to offer, then come out for a tour.
Home Styles for Growing Families
In the Newcastle community, Sterling is focused on building duplex-style homes and front-attached homes. Both are the perfect style for growing families who are finding that they’d like a little more space. You can definitely own a 3-bedroom home with an open-concept living area that’s perfect for entertaining. If you’d like even more space, though, you can choose a 4-bedroom floor plan or choose to finish the basement to add an extra bedroom.
Best of all, though, will be the location of your home in this community if you’re ready to act now. The current phase of the neighbourhood is practically right across the street from a large green space with an existing playground. There will be a school built in this area in the near future. It might even be open by the time your kids are ready to go, and they’ll be able to walk to school instead of spending too much time on the bus.
A Family-Friendly Design
Newcastle is built with families in mind. The backyards are big enough for things like a patio set, a fire pit, or a wooden play structure. Families can instantly appreciate how nice it will be to just spend some time in their own backyard. Aside from this, the streets are pretty quiet, with a few cul de sac areas. There are also natural areas, including a stormwater pond with a walking trail around it. Your family will love getting outside together for an after-dinner walk or bike ride. You’ll probably see plenty of friends along the way.
Newcastle has an incredibly convenient location. It’s close to the Anthony Henday, which can get you just about anywhere in the city, but if you’re headed to the downtown area, it’s a pretty straight shot down 127th and 121st. You can get to the downtown area in under 25 minutes. If you prefer to take it easy using public transportation, you can get to work in about an hour. Of course, the community is also appealing to those who work in north Edmonton locations, such as the Canadian Forces base. It’s only a 10 to 15-minute drive to reach the base.
You’ll also find all of the amenities you could possibly want are extremely close. The Newcastle Shopping Centre is just a short drive away, and it features many great options. There’s a Sobeys, a drug store, and an LA Fitness. It’s also a good place to pick up a quick meal, with popular restaurants like DQ Grill and Chill, Royal Pizza, and Freshii. Or it might just be where you go for some medical services because there’s a medical centre, a dentist, and an orthodontist. If that doesn’t offer everything you need, you can also head to the nearby Walmart Supercentre across the street. That area also features several fast-food favourites, such as McDonald’s, Tim Hortons, Panda Express, along with casual sit-down restaurants like Brown’s Social House.
Newcastle offers plenty of opportunities for recreation inside the community, but sometimes you want something a little different. LA Fitness is a good choice for adults who want to go somewhere on their own, but Servus Place in St. Albert and the Castledowns YMCA are more kid-friendly while still being nearby. You can put the kids in the childminding area while you get your workout in, or do something together as a family, like making use of the swimming pools. They also have youth sports programs if that’s something that you might be looking for now or in the future.
If you prefer getting out into the great outdoors, you can check out some of the parks around St. Albert, such as Kingswood Park or the St. Albert Botanical Park. These are lovely places to take the kids for walks during all seasons. Just bundle up when it’s cold.
We believe that Newcastle has everything a family could want in a community, but there’s no way to tell for sure if it’s the right place for you without coming to check it out. Schedule a time to do this and talk to an Area Manager about making Newcastle your home.
