Community Feature: The Best of Tonewood in Spruce Grove
When you build your home, you want a community that’s perfect for your family, and we think that’s what you’ll find in the community of Tonewood. Set in the small(ish) town of Spruce Grove to the west of Edmonton, you’ll get to enjoy the quiet you want while being able to take advantage of the fast-paced lifestyle found in a big city like Edmonton.
After you explore the neighbourhood a bit, you’ll agree that it has a lot to offer.
Homes Built for You
In Tonewood, Sterling is currently focused on building homes that come from our Evolve line. These homes take advantage of a streamlined building process that allows you to get a brand-new home at an unbelievably low price.
The Streetwise model, for instance, has almost 1,300 square feet of living space, and it includes the types of features that you’d expect in a much larger home: a mudroom, a master suite with an ensuite and a walk-in closet, and a second-floor laundry room. The Sansa model is a bit bigger, with almost 1,500 square feet. It features a larger kitchen and second-floor laundry, and it even has a bonus room on the second floor for your family to use as a more casual living room. Both of these models will allow you to finish the basement, which can give you more living space for your family or an income opportunity if you choose to build a legal income suite. These homes start in the low $300s.
The Perfect Neighbourhood for Families
Tonewood is still in the early stages of development, but it has a lot of features that your family’s going to love. The quiet streets and pathways are perfect for family walks or teaching your children to ride their bikes. And the ponds and green spaces offer the perfect backdrop. The kids can enjoy playing in the backyard or meeting up with friends around the neighbourhood.
Best of all, there are plans for a future school that will be located just a hop, skip, and a jump from your front door. If you have little ones that won’t be entering school for a few years still, they might even start their schooling in this brand-new school.
One of the best things about Tonewood is that it’s set just across the street from Spruce Grove’s Jubilee Park. This family-favourite park has large play structures for the kids and picnic areas so that you can spend the day there. In the winter, there’s a recreational skating area, and in the summer, there’s a spray park to cool off. Got older kids who have grown out of the playground stage? No worries! They’ll enjoy walking or biking along the multipurpose trails or playing disc golf.
Aside from Jubilee Park, Spruce Grove has plenty of options for those who want to get out for some exercise. The Links Golf Course offers golf when the weather’s nice and cross country skiing when there’s snow on the ground. Throughout the city, there are also tennis courts, skating rinks, and places for geocaching.
The Amenities You Need
Recreation might be important, but a community isn’t perfect without easy access to amenities like grocery stores, banks, gas stations, and health providers. Fortunately, you’ll find everything you need here. Shop for home goods at The Home Depot or Walmart Supercentre, and find your groceries at Safeway or Save-On Foods. There are also specialty stores like Petco and Michaels, and a variety of national and independent restaurants. Best of all, most of these stores are found along the Parkland Highway, so it’s easy to get wherever you want in a few short minutes.
You want your children to get a great education. We’ve already mentioned the plans for a school right in the Tonewood community, but there’s still a great selection of schools available right now. These include preschools, public schools, French-immersion programs, and religion-based schools. No matter what type of school you’re looking for, you’re sure to find it in Spruce Grove.
The daily commute can easily make or break a community. You don’t want to travel far each day to get to work. Many of the people who choose to make Tonewood their home drive to work somewhere in Spruce Grove. These people often have commutes that are 15 minutes or less. However, if you work downtown, the commute is only a bit over 30 minutes, and those who work in the west part of Edmonton will take less time to get to work. It’s also only about a 40-45 minute drive to the airport.
When you live in Tonewood, you have a great opportunity to get into a new community from the start. You can get a great deal on a home and have your pick of available lots. Come take a tour of this lovely community to see if it is the right place for your family to call home.
