What makes Cavanagh stand out?
Cavanagh’s motto is “Located for Living,” and it’s easy to see why. It’s located just next to Highway 2, a short distance away from the Anthony Henday. Everyone in Edmonton knows these two major highways will easily take you to anywhere you want to go. Its position in south Edmonton means it’s close to the airport, which is a big bonus for those who take frequent business trips. Cavanagh is also close to a variety of stores, restaurants, and other amenities. Everything you need is just a short drive away.
What kinds of homes will be available in Cavanagh?
Cavanagh appeals to young families and single professionals, and the types of homes available are designed for those who are in these stages. You’ll find affordable duplex homes, laned homes, and larger single-family homes with attached garages. Homes will each have their own unique look, but the homes in the neighbourhood will have a similar architectural style: updated versions of the early Alberta heritage style.
Which schools will my children attend?
Currently, the designated public schools for children living in Cavanagh are the Dr Lila Fahlman Public K-9 School and Harry Ainlay Public High School. There are also Catholic schools nearby: St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Pre-K-7 School, Monsignor Fee Otterson Catholic K-9 school, and Louis St. Laurent Catholic Junior/Senior High School. Of course, you could also choose any of the other private schools throughout Edmonton.
The land development plan for the Cavanagh neighbourhood does include space for a new school in the future. When this happens, your children will be so close to school that they may be able to walk. It might take a few years for this school to be built, so if you have very young children now, it’s a good time to get into the neighbourhood.
How far is the commute to downtown Edmonton?
If you work downtown, you want a convenient commute, and that’s what you’ll get when you live in Cavanagh. It takes around 30 minutes to get to the downtown area by car. Public transportation is also available. The bus will take you about an hour, but you’ll be free to read a book or relax while you ride. Cavanagh is also only about 15 minutes from the airport. That’s a bonus for those early morning business flights.
What amenities are nearby?
There are plenty of amenities close to Cavanagh. South Edmonton Common is just a six-minute drive away, and it features many of the stores you need for daily living, including places to buy clothes, groceries, and home goods. Southgate Mall, Ellerslie Landing, and Currents of Windermere are also nearby. All of these destinations have your favourite restaurants, but you’ll find many more along Ellerslie Road.
What do Cavanagh residents do for fun?
The neighbourhood itself will be perfectly designed for those who like to get outside. There are walking trails that allow you to take a run, walk or bike ride around the man-made lake, and there will be a park and playground area right inside the community. Cavanagh is also close to the Blackmud Creek Ravine as well as golf courses and recreation centres like the YMCA. No matter what you like to do, you’re sure to be able to find it close to Cavanagh.
