Family Life on the First Floor

Perhaps the nicest feature of the Streetwise layout is that the kitchen is at the centre of the main floor. This allows you to have the dining nook at one end of the home and the living room at the other. The rooms feel separate, even though it’s an open-concept design.

We’ve saved you some counter space in the kitchen by putting a microwave shelf over the stove. On either side of the stove, you’ll find counter space where you can put the coffee maker or do some prep work for dinner. We think you’ll really like the island in the centre of the kitchen. There’s an eating ledge for casual meals, and the sink and dishwasher are located here as well.

Bedrooms and More on the Second Floor

With three bedrooms on the second floor, your kids – or grandkids – will be able to have their own rooms. The two secondary bedrooms come with large closets for keeping clothes out of sight. Each of these rooms have a window facing the back of the home. This will let in a lot of natural light to really brighten up the space.

Surprisingly, the master suite in this home has many of the same features you’d find in much larger homes. For instance, you’ll enjoy a large walk-in closet. With shelving in here, you’re likely to be able to store all of your clothes in this space. There’s also an ensuite with a bathtub, toilet and sink. A large window in this room also brings in some light.

The Streetwise also has a laundry room on the second floor. This is a big convenience that many families today are demanding, but second-floor laundry rooms aren’t common in most “starter homes”. That’s going to be a big plus when it comes to resale value.

Options for More Space

The Streetwise floor plan has all the things you’re probably looking for in a home – three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, an open concept living area. But all of that is packed into a smaller amount of square footage than you might have been thinking about. Fortunately, there’s an option to finish the basement, which adds a family room, bedroom, and full bathroom. It’s an extra 600+ square feet of living space. Even better, finishing the basement would give you the extra living space you need at a cost that’s probably less than you’d get if you were to purchase a larger home from the get-go.

Alternatively, we have plans to include a kitchen in this basement suite, turning it into an income suite. If you’ve ever thought about renting out a portion of your home to help make it even more affordable, now is the time to get started.

Where Can You Get the Streetwise?

Many of our homes can be built in almost all of the communities we build in, but since the Streetwise is a new design, it’s only available in a few neighbourhoods for now: Cy Becker in Northeast Edmonton, and Graydon Hill or Cavanagh in Southwest Edmonton. Each of these communities offers easy access to the Anthony Henday for a fast commute, a convenient location for amenities, and great opportunities to play right inside the community. At this time, though, there’s limited availability in each of these communities. If you’re interested in making the Streetwise your new home, you need to act quickly.
